Holcomb-Faye Tabbed Second Team All-State RICHMOND, Va. - Sophomore guard Whit Holcomb-Faye was named University Division Second Team All-State by the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) Wednesday afternoon Holcomb-Faye (Winston-Salem, N.C.), who was last year’s Big South Freshman of the Year, averaged 17.5 points per game to lead the Big South Conference. He also ranked fourth in assists in the League, dishing out 4.11 per game. He was tabbed First Team All-Conference this season by the League. Virginia Tech senior Bryant Matthews was selected as the State Player of the Year and Virginia Commonwealth head coach Jeff Capel garnered his second straight Coach of the Year award to headline the awards, as voted by VaSID. Holcomb-Faye was the only Big South player to earn All-State honors. He was joined on the second team by Elton Brown of Virginia, Jai Lewis of George Mason and Tony Dobbins and Mike Skrocki of Richmond. Devin Green of Hampton, Adam Hess of William & Mary, VCU’s Domonic Jones and Old Dominion’s Alex Loughton joined Matthews on the first team. |
