Radford Men’s Basketball Announces Signing of JUCO Forward Jeffers Radford, Va. - Radford University men’s basketball program signed 6-7, 215 pound forward Brandon Jeffers to a National Letter of Intent. It was announced today by Highlander Men’s Basketball Coach Byron Samuels. “Brandon Jeffers is an excellent sign for our basketball program. He is an outstanding athlete and versatile player who can play 2, 3, or 4, stated,” Samuels. “He has the physical presence and basketball intelligence needed for us to compete for the Big South Championship. His maturity as a young man and drive to succeed makes him an instant candidate for a leadership role on our team.” A member of the 2003 Maryland Junior College Conference first team, Jeffers played his JUCO basketball for Kevin McIver of Howard Community College. He ranked 13 in scoring, and 20 in rebounding in the NJCAA as a sophomore, while helping lead the Fighting Dragons into the league championship game. Playing his high school basketball at Southern Senior High School in Baltimore, Md., Jeffers finished in the top five in both scoring, rebounding and assists in Maryland Junior College Conference this past season, averaging 21.8 points, 10.4 rebounds and 5.4 assists per contest. His scoring average ranked fifth, rebounding average fourth and assist average fifth, in the final 2003 MJCC rankings. Jeffers joins a late recruiting class of 6-7 Chris Oliver who averaged 21.3 points and 11 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per game as a senior at Glenn High School in Kernersville, N.C. and fellow Baltimore product Dan Ross, a 6-6, 210 sharp-shooter from West Nottingham Academy, who averaging 15.3 points, six rebounds and three steals per game for the in Colora, Md. school. In all the Highlanders have inked five players to NLI’s signing Reggie McIntyre 6-7, 210 forward from Woodmont High School in Greenville, S.C. and 6-5, 185, guard Anthony Teague of Shaker Heights High School in Shaker Heights, Ohio last fall. |
