Highlanders Shutout Catawba, 6-0 Salisbury S.C. - Radford defeated Catawba, 6-0, behind Erin Lenhardt's (Hayes, Va.) hat trick in field hockey action from Frock Field. The Highlanders improve to 1-1 on the year, while it was the season opener for Catawba. Radford would score three goals in each half, tallying the first goal just over five minutes into the game as Jammie Hillian (Fredericksburg, Va.) scored the first of her two goals at the 28:54 mark of the first half. She would add her second goal 10 minutes later. Senior Megan Driest (Fredericksburg, Va.) assisted on the first goal. Lenhardt closed out the first half, scoring with 52 seconds left. Jenny Bell (Virginia Beach, Va.) opened the second half scoring, tallying her first career goal at 15:35, Lenhardt would capture her hat trick with goals at 11:25 and 1:28. The Highlanders outshot the Lady Indians 48-2 and had 20 penalty corners to just one for Catawba. Freshman Lady Indian keeper Lauren Wetzel recorded 24 saves, while RU's Tina Caiazza (Fairfax, Va.) made two.
