Highlanders Shutout By #5 Wake Forest, 7-0

Winston-Salem, N.C. – After a 40-minute weather delay, fifth ranked Wake Forest team defeated Radford tonight, 7-0, at Kentner Stadium. With the win, the Deacons run their record to 4-2, while the Highlanders fall to 2-4 after their second defeat to a top ten school in the last week.

Radford fell in the hole early as Wake's Kelly Dostal scored off a penalty corner from Maria Whitehead in the first minute of play. Fifteen minutes later, Dostal fed Heather Aughinbaugh who found the open net to make the score 2-0. Emily Ruth scored back-to-back goals to close the first half, with assists from Aughinbaugh and Kelly Doton as the Deacs went into halftime leading, 4-0.

Katie Ackerman make it 5-0 off a feed from Doton. Doton would finish things off herself, scoring ta pair of unassisted goals late in the game to seal the 7-0 victory.
The Highlanders were outshot 27-1 and outcornered 13-3. Tina Caizza (Fairfax, Va.) made seven saves for RU.

The Highlanders travel to Williamsburg on Saturday to face William and Mary at 1p.m.
