#6 North Carolina Defeats Highlanders, 5-1

Chapel Hill, N.C. - North Carolina's (3-2) Kerry Falgowski scored a pair of goals as Radford (1-3) fell to the sixth-ranked Tar Heels, 5-1 in field hockey action. RU keeper Tina Caiazza (Fairfax, Va.) recorded a career high 20 saves as the Highlanders were outshot 39-2.

UNC would grab a 2-0 lead in the first half on goals by Falgowski and Karen Mann both tip ins off of corner shots. The Tar Heels would give themselves some breathing room in the second half as Laura Douglas scored 4:23 in and Falgowski would add her second goal with about 19 minutes left in the game.

Senior Megan Driest (Fredericksburg, Va.) would spoil the shutout when she scored her first goal of the season with 3:54 remaining. On Radford's only corner and shots of the game, Driest would put back a rebound off of Erin Lehardt's (Hayes, Va.) shot. UNC's Jana Facchinei capped off the scoring with another tip in goal at 68:00.

Angela Feindt (Hartwood, Va.), Alison Douglass (Springfield, Va.) and Laura Currence (Suffolk, Va.) all recorded defensive saves for the Highlanders.

Radford will host NorPac foe Appalachian State on Sunday at 3 p.m. in their home opener.
