Highlanders Blank La Salle in Home Finale, 4-0

Radford, Va. Alison Douglass (Springfield, Va./Robert E. Lee) and Jammie Hillian (Fredericksburg, Va./Stafford) each scored a pair of goals as Radford blanked La Salle in field hockey action from Dedmon Center Field. Keeper Tina Caiazza (Fairfax, Va./Chantilly) recorded her sixth shutout of the season, making a pair of saves. It was the Highlanders fourth win in five games, improving their record to 7-8, while the Explorers fall to 3-13.

Hillian opened the scoring for the Highlanders just 3:11 into the game. Becky Glynn (Frenchtown, N.J./Delaware Valley Regional) would slip the ball into the circle, finding Hillian, who flipped it past La Salle keeper Colleen Bolger.

Radford, picking it up offensively would outshoot the Explorers 10-1 in the second half. Douglass and Hillian would give the Highlanders some breathing room, scoring 1:40 apart, ten minutes into the period.

Douglass would tip home an Angela Feindt (Hartwood, Va./Stafford) shot at 45:10, while Hillian would take a 20-yard pass from Megan Driest (Fredericksburg, Va./Courtland) and poke it home at 46:50. The Highlanders closed out the scoring when Douglass rifled the ball past backup keeper Sarah Kearney off an assist from Erin Hebert (Hampton, Va./Kecoughtan) at 62:15.

Radford outshot LaSalle, 13-3 and held a 10-8 advantage in penalty corners. La Salle keepers Bolger and Kearney made six and two save respectively.

The Highlanders will close out their regular season with a pair of games in Harrisonburg. On Oct. 30th they will face eighth-ranked James Madison at 7 p.m. and #18 Boston College on Nov. 3 at noon.
