Highlanders Shutout by #10 Duke, 2-0 Durham, N.C. - Radford University (5-8) was shutout 2-0 by 10th-ranked Duke University in field hockey action from Williams Field. Stacey Tsougas and Kim Van Kirk provided the Blue Devils goals. Keeper Tina Caiazza (Fairfax, Va.) kept the Highlanders in the game, making eight saves in defeat. The Blue Devils extended the lead to 2-0 less than three minutes into the second half when Van Kirk redirected a bounding ball from Jessica Fluck into the back of the net for her team-high ninth goal of the season. Van Kirk currently leads Duke with 23 points on the season. Radford returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 26 when they host Davidson in a key NorPac matchup at 1 p.m. The teams are tied for first at 3-1 in the East Division. |
