Highlanders Downed by #17 JMU, 8-2 HARRISONBURG, Va. - Sophomore Janelle Perlis's hat trick paced 17th-ranked James Madison (11-8) to an 8-2 field hockey win over Radford (6-12) Sunday afternoon at Bridgeforth Stadium. Senior Heather Platzer, Perlis and junior Carrie Phillips each scored a goal to put the Dukes up 3-0 before Radford freshman Marie Petran (Norfolk, Va./Granby) got the Highlanders on the scoreboard with 2:00 left in the first half.. The Dukes put the game out of reach in the second half, scoring five goals in the first 17 minutes. Becky Glynn (Frenchtown, N.J.) would close out the scoring for Radford when she tallied her first goal of the season with 12 minutes left in the game. (box score) The Highlanders close out their season tomorrow, when they play Pacific in Winston-Salem at 7:00 p.m. Radford finished the season as the third seed in the eastern conference. They will face Stanford in the first round of the NorPac Conference Tournament on Nov. 1 at 9:30 a.m. The tournament is being held from Nov. 1-3 at Appalachian State. |
