Sunday's game began as a pitcher's duel, with Radford starter Mark Fleisher carrying a no-hitter through four innings and Brittnell throwing a perfect game through three complete. Fleisher (3-7) struck out eight batters in six innings pitched, allowing two runs on three hits in taking the loss. Brittnell threw a complete game allowing no runs on five hits while striking out four.

Birmingham-Southern (29-15; 14-4 Big South) broke the scoreless tie with two runs in the fifth. After right fielder Brandon Hynick doubled to left field, third baseman Pat Mizerany singled up the middle to score Hynick. Mizerany then scored on a sacrifice fly by centerfielder Scott Billak to give BSC a 2-0 lead.

Mizerany stole home in the seventh inning to give the Panthers another run. Shortstop Matt Barber scored on a bases loaded walk. First baseman Adam Tucker followed with a single through the right side that scored Billak. A groundout by catcher Blake Burton drove in second baseman Jonathan Sanford, extending the BSC lead to 6-0.

Birmingham-Southern tallied its final two runs in the ninth. Hynick reached on a bases loaded error that scored left fielder Billy Froehlich. Mizerany then hit a RBI single that plated Tucker.

The Highlanders (11-31; 6-12 Big South) threatened in both the eighth and ninth innings, putting two runners on in each inning. A double play ended the threat in the eighth and a fly out combined with a pair of strikeouts closed out the ninth.

Mizerany was 2-for-4 with two RBI to lead the Panthers. Fleisher led Radford with a 2-for-4 performance.

The Highlanders will take a week off for final exams before heading to Richmond for a Tuesday doubleheader on May 10 beginning at 2:00 pm. Birmingham-Southern will play at Jacksonville State Wednesday at 6:30 pm CDT.
