Fleisher Named Big South Co-Player of the Week RADFORD, Va.--Radford University junior first baseman Mark Fleisher was named Big South Choice Hotels Co-Player of the Week for his performance against League rival VMI last weekend. The League announced the award, which he shared with Winthrop’s David Scoggin. Fleisher, a Glen Allen, Va. native, hit five home runs against VMI, two each Friday and Saturday and one Sunday, to propel RU to a sweep of VMI. He tallied 15 RBI on the week, including 13 versus VMI. He batted .389 on the week, collecting seven hits in 18 at bats. He scored six runs and posted a slugging percentage of 1.222. He collected two walks in the four games as well. Fleisher went 1-4 with two RBI in the win over Richmond. It is the second Big South weekly award for a Radford player this season. It marks the first time Fleisher has won a Big South award. Junior pitcher Justin Tubb won Pitcher of the Week honors earlier this year. Radford will host Davidson today at 3:00 pm in a non-Conference tilt. Fleisher, who also serves as a member of RU’s starting rotation, will me on the mound for the Highlanders. Radford will play at home again tomorrow against in-state rival James Madison. First pitch is set for 3:00 pm. |
