Ball State Tops Radford 9-8 DURHAM, N.C. - In one of the most thrilling games of the season, the Ball State baseball team tallied two runs in the top of the eighth inning to claim a 9-8 victory over Radford. With the win, BSU's third straight, the Cardinals improve to 8-6, while Radford falls to 4-6. (Box Score) Ball State jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, only to fall behind 5-3 after a four-run Radford fourth inning. The Cardinals would respond with a four-spot of its own in the top of the fifth to reclaim the lead at 7-5. The Highlanders would answer right back, tying the game at 7-7 in the bottom half of the fifth inning. After two scoreless inning, the Cardinals posted a two-spot on the board in the eight inning and held Radford to one run to claim a 9-8 victory. Matt Singleton scored the game-winning run, when a pass ball allowed him to score from third base. Brad Snyder went 3-of-5 in the game with one run scored, while Kiel Holman went 1-of-3, with two walks and a two-run home run for BSU. Mark Fleisher drove in three runs to lead the RU's attack with three hits in five trips. Ryan Wetzel also collected three hits in five at-bats with a double. Alan Ashworth chipped in with a pair of hits in a losing effort. RU plays host Duke University, Sunday at 1:30 p.m. |
