UNC Asheville Completes BSC Series Sweep of Radford, 11-7

RADFORD, Va. – Israel Victor's single to right field broke a 7-7 tie and opened up a four run UNC Asheville ninth inning to complete a Big South Conference series sweep of Radford University, Sunday afternoon at Dedmon Center Park. (Box Score)

UNC Asheville would score eight of their 11 runs in the final three innings to improve to 18-19 overall and 7-8 in BSC action. Radford, who rallied for five runs in the seventh to even the score at 7-7, fell to 15-24 overall and 5-9 in league play.

Jake McConiga led the Bulldog attack going 3-for-5 with three RBI. Matt Roberts, Nick Jaska, Denver Edick and Curtis Moncus each added a pair of hits for the Bulldogs. Nat Hodges paced the Highlanders going 5-for-five with a triple and two RBI. Daryl Douglass and Kellen Wohlford each add two hits in a losing effort.

Jason Walker worked the final 2.2 innings for UNCA to even his record at 2-2 on the season allowing four hits and striking out four. Dave Eddinger suffered his first loss of the season for the Highlanders, allowing five runs on six hits in 2.1 innings of relief.

The Highlanders will take the next week off for finals, before hosting nationally ranked James Madison on Monday, May, 6 at 3:00 p.m. UNC Asheville will travel to Gardner Webb on Tuesday April 30 at 3:00 p.m.
