Old Dominion Hold Off Radford, 7-3 in Baseball

RADFORD, Va. - Old Dominion scored four runs in the fourth to down Radford University, 7-3 in baseball action from the Dedmon Center Park Thursday afternoon. (Box Score)

The Monarch’s fourth, was highlighted by Jesse Schoendiest single to left center, which drove in two, as ODU banged out five hits and push across four runs.

The score would stay at 4-0, until Old Dominion (16-15) would make it 5-0 in the seventh, scoring on a sacrifice fly. However, Radford (11-18) would counter with three runs in the bottom of the inning, scoring on a Scott Gvozdas RBI triple, a Nat Hodges RBI single and a Dayrl Douglass RBI single to pull within 5-3.

Ryan Harvy and Kevin Snapp each added a pair of hits to pace the ODU offence, while Hodges and Douglass each added a pair of hits for RU.

Ken Brumfield strike out seven in 6.1 innings, allowing four hits and two runs on his way to picking his first victory of the season. Johanathan Tinkham came in to earn his third save of the season for ODU.

Radford starter Justin Tubb, received the loss falling to 1-6 on the season, allowing five runs, all earned, on eight hits in 6.2 innings of work.

The Highlanders will resume action this weekend hosting a three-game series with Elon. Saturday’s is scheduled for a doubleheader starting at noon, while Sunday will be a single game starting at 1:00 p.m.
