Coastal Salvages Third Game of Series, 15-7 over Radford

RADFORD, Va. - Coastal Carolina avoided a sweep by Radford University in this weekends three game Big South Conference series, with a 15-7 win over the Highlanders Sunday afternoon at Dedmon Center Park. (Box Score)

Coastal scored in every inning except the second and took advantage of Radford's season high seven errors on their way to out slugging Radford 16-to-10 on the afternoon. All 16 of the Chants hits were singles. The victory raised Coastal Carolina's record to 27-15 and 8-4 in BSC play, while RU fell to 14-22 and 5-7 in Big South Conference action.

Ryan McGraw and Justin Owens led the Chants attack with four hits apiece. McGraw drove in a game high five runs to lead Coastal. Adam Keim added three hits in the victory.

Mike Tarbox and Alan Ashworth paced Radford with a pair of hits each, while Matt Mantione and Mark Fleisher drove in two runs each.

Sheamus Donovan worked five innings allowing six runs on six hits to even his record at 3-3 on the season. RU starter Mark Fleisher fell to 1-5 on his freshman campaign allowing seven runs, four of which were earned, and eight hits in five innings.

The Highlanders will travel to Old Dominion on Tuesday, April 23. Coastal will have the week off before traveling to Elon next weekend for a three game BSC series.
