Radford, Va. – The Radford University baseball team benefited from two solid pitching efforts Saturday afternoon to sweep Big South opponent Coastal Carolina in a doubleheader, 8-4 and 2-1, at Dedmon Center Park. (Box Score Game One) (Box Score Game Two)

Coastal now drops to 26-15 overall, 7-4 in the BSC. RU's (14-21, 5-6) win in game one gives head coach Lew Kent his 169 career victory, leaving him alone at the top of the all-time wins list at RU.

In game one, Coastal took an early 1-0 lead in the first, as Adam Kiem delivered an RBI single to left. The Highlanders countered in the bottom of the inning, taking a 2-1 lead courtesy of a Kellan Wohlford blast to right center.

Mike Tarbox had an RBI groundout, followed by a sacrifice fly from Shawn Abell, scoring Keith Brunst. An RBI single from Wohlford and an error by third baseman Steve Pinnochio allowed Daryl Douglass to score, giving RU the 6-2 advantage.
