RADFORD, VA. James Madison battered Radford pitching, banging out 17 hits, seven of which went for extra bases, to cruise to their 37 victory of the season, 17-5, in non-conference collegiate baseball action from the Dedmon Center Park Monday afternoon. (Box Score)
JMU (37-10) plated five runs in the fourth inning to break open a 2-1 game to cruise. The Highlanders, who fell to 15-26 on the season, were able to collect 11 hits of their own however never could sustain a rally plating just a pair of runs in the fourth to go along with single runs in the second, eighth and ninth.
Leading the offensive attack for the Dukes was Travis Ebaugh with three doubles and two RBI in five trips. Nathan Doyle added a three-run homerun to finish with a pair of hits and four RBI in the victory. Matt Deuchler collected a double and a homerun, while Brent Matheny and Mike Butia added a pair of hits for the No. 28 Dukes. JMUs Justin Ruffin and Steve Ballowe each added homeruns.
Kellen Wohlford paced Radford with three hits including a double. Nat Hodges and Scott Gvozdas each added two hits a piece in a losing effort for the Highlanders.
Dan Mayer worked just one inning off perfect baseball to improve to 7-2 on the season. RU starter Cory Koliscak suffered the loss for the Highlanders allowing two hits in two innings to fall to 3-6 on the season.
