RU Head Trainer and Senior Women's Administrator Jackie Clouse

Jackie Clouse is now in her 15th year as head trainer at Radford University, and in her third year as senior women's administrator for the Highlander athletic program.

The Somerset, Ohio, native came to Radford after graduating from Ohio University in 1983 with a bachelor's degree in health and a minor in sports medicine. She spent her first year at Radford working as a graduate assistant trainer while finishing her master's degree in health and physical education.

By 1984, she had become head trainer as RU made the move to NCAA Division I. Today, she is acknowledged as one of the top young trainers in the nation.

Clouse is certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association and is a member of the Virginia Athletic Trainers Association. She is also a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and is active in the American Red Cross as a CPR instructor. In addition, she teaches a course in athletic injuries in the Radford University physical education department.

In 1993, as a testament to her knowledge and skill in the profession, she was chosen to serve as trainer for the Big South Conference all-star basketball team that toured Russia.

Clouse works regularly with the Highlanders' orthopedic team physicians, Dr. Ken Gray and Dr. Kerry Donnelly. Gray and Donnelly are available to examine serious injuries and to advise the RU training staff on treatments.

Clouse serves as trainer for the Radford men's basketball team and oversees a staff that includes 20 student assistants.

Please note the following NCAA regulations relating to a Division I Collegiate Institution responding to your e-mail request:
1) Telephone calls to a prospective student-athlete (and their parents) may not be made prior to July 1 (August 15 in the sport of football) following the completion of the prospect's junior year in high school.
2) Recruiting materials (except for general questionnaires, which may be provided at any time) may not be provided to a prospective student-athlete (and their parents) until September 1 at the beginning of the prospect's junior year.
For purposes of this legislation, an electronically transmitted correspondence (i.e., e-mail, fax) is considered general correspondence and is therefore permissible after September 1 at the beginning of the prospect's junior year. Please consider this when requesting information from an institution. Including information about yourself (i.e., year in school, mailing address) will enable a coach to respond to your inquiry within the parameters of NCAA legislation.
