Spring 2024 Competition and Awards Ceremony
On April 3rd, 2024, the College of Graduate Studies and OURS will host the first annual Highlander Research Blitz Competition for students enrolled in graduate and undergraduate programs through Radford University (main campus, RUC, RHEC, SVHEC).

Undergraduate and Graduate Contestants will have three minutes to describe their original mentored research or creative inquiry. Aided by a single image or graphic on a PowerPoint slide, participants compete to see who can best communicate their work and its significance to a non-specialist (layperson) audience.
Judging and Awards
There will be a pannel of judges who will select the winners of the competition using the rubric.
Based on an established set of criteria, judges will award prizes in two categories: First Place ($500) and Runner Up ($300).
All finalists are also eligible for the People's Choice ($300) award. Radford University students, faculty, and staff can help choose the People's Choice winner. Videos taken at the event of the finalists' presentations will be uploaded here. After watching the finalists' presentations, cast your vote online anytime between April 10 and April 17. (Please note: Balloting closes at 12:00 p.m. EDT.)

On April 3, 2024, the College of Graduate Studies will host a Research Blitz Competition for students enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs through Radford University, Radford University Carilion, and the Roanoke and Southwest Virginia Higher Education Centers.
The Research Blitz Competition gives students a chance to share their research, discoveries, and insights with a non-specialist audience in a fun, fast-paced format. Research Blitz participants gain valuable practical experience and bring visibility to their work and field of study.
The Research Blitz Competitions follows the guidelines: A three-minute talk aided by a single static PowerPoint slide; no embedded electronic media; and no props.
Participants will present live during the in person event on April 3, 2024. The wiinners will be announced at the event on April 3, 2024. The winners will also be recognized at the graduation ceremony of the College of Graduate Studies on May 4, 2024.
