Sports Clubs Mission Statements

Radford Women’s Club Soccer
One team; one dream.  Our commitment is not only to each other as teammates, but to our university and community.  We strive to achieve success in our sport, create positive role models for our university, and to provide our community with services to help better our environment. Radford Women’s Club Soccer is not only a team of champions, but individual leaders within all aspects of Radford University.

Radford Men’s Ice Hockey
The Radford Men’s Ice Hockey team has been in existence since 1992, competing in the Blue Ridge Hockey Conference.  The team consists of about twenty or so dedicated players coming from many different backgrounds and skill levels. The hockey team has come a long way in the last fourteen years, including a National Tournament appearance in 2004, finishing 12th in the entire nation. The club is proud to represent Radford University, and plans to continue expanding the club’s name, building lasting friendships, displaying sportsmanship, and adding to recent successes.

Radford Women's Club Softball
The Radford Women's Club Softball team is a new program that is in the process of working to get a strong team together.  We plan on traveling to nearby schools to participate in tournaments in the fall, which will help to promote our club.  Our main goal right now is to join a league where we will be able to compete and make a name for Radford University.

Radford Women's Rugby Club
The purpose of the Radford Women's Rugby Football Club is to foster the spirit of rugby, on and off the pitch, to include friendly competition and social events for its members in both the fall and spring seasons.  The club will promote athleticism, leadership skills, and self confidence through weekly practices, meetings and matches.

Radford Women’s Volleyball Club
Involve students in both university and community activities.  Provide each member with the opportunity for improving their skills and abilities while at the same time promoting team relationships.  Strive to promote good sportsmanship and team camaraderie while competing at a competitive level.

RU Men's Club Soccer
Committed to excellence through creation of great relationships with the attempts to play at least one game a week against in-state schools and sometimes participate in large tournaments involving in-state and out-of-state schools.  Practice is every week, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 PM – 8 PM at the Dedmon Center fields.  Thank you for all of your support.

The Redcoats Equestrian Team
Our mission is to give each member horsemanship skills as well as riding skills to all levels of riders. We are a close knit team who show and ride together on a regular basis. Each member is provided with responsibility, coordination, trust, and integrity. We are currently seeking and accepting new members, and we welcome everyone who is interested and dedicated. Radford Men’s Rugby Football Club
To provide members with the opportunity to gain leadership, work ethic, and a network of friends that will be life long. To represent the university to the best of our ability both on and off the field while maintaining our dominance as one of the top teams in the nation.  Rugby allows us to learn life lessons from our coaches and teammates that we can carry with us beyond the pitch.

Men's Ultimate Frisbee
Our aim is to provide the people of Radford University and the community surrounding the university a means to participate in both a fun and enjoyable sports experience while simultaneously providing for those who seek to participate in a competitive and structured sports experience. We hope to inspire the values of spirit, respect, and sportsmanship that keep our sport thriving into all those who should join us.

Women's Ultimate Frisbee
Our goal is to grow as a team as well as representatives of the university and members of the Radford community.  We hope to improve the skills of each member while maintaining an enjoyable environment and instilling a sense of the spirit of the game in each one.  Women of all experience levels are encouraged to join us as either competitive or recreational players.

RU Men’s Club Basketball
Our goal is to take a group of students and create a talented and successful basketball team.  Through extensive practices, games, and fund-raising events we won't be creating just a team...but a family, too.  As a family we are striving to spread RU's name throughout the region, state, and country by competing against other colleges and universities

RU Men’s Club Lacrosse
Committed to excellence while maintaining a long lasting relationship with both community and university.  Providing each member transferable skills such as leadership, commitment, and perseverance.  Producing a championship winning team along with individuals who thrive in challenging situations for now and many years to come has been our goal.  Leaving a permanent impression on the opposition of superiority and excellence.

RU Men's Club Baseball
The Radford University Club Baseball team has been in existence since 2005 with a group of 20 dedicated founding members.  Our team has recently completed our first season of play with the National Club Baseball Association.  Our team had a strong inaugural season, but has much room to improve.  This season we plan to be even tougher, holding practices and conditioning workouts three times a week.  We are all looking forward to representing Radford University in a strong second season of Club Baseball, through our play and sportsmanship on and off the field in the community and throughout the student body.

Men's Football Club
The Football Club was established at Radford University in 2007, becoming apart of the Seaboard Conference in 2008. The club currently operates under a staff of 4 coaches. The Football Club plays against schools such as George Mason and Valley Forge Military in the regular fall season. The club also competes in scrimmages during the spring semester. The mission of the Football Club is to create a competitive environment surrounded by the common interest of American football, while also attempting to engage students in a sense of campus community.

Women's Lacrosse
Our goal is to make history and start a legacy. The Women’s Lacrosse Club at Radford has only been established for a year and we are still gaining strength. With every new member is a new sister and new opportunity to win games and establish a club team that will continue for years to come. We hope to be able to be part of future tournaments and host more games here at Radford to gain support from the students and faculty. Our team strives to serve as positive role models who show great athletic strength and to serve as motivators for young girls in the community to learn the game of lacrosse and learn to be part of a family similar to the Radford Women’s Lacrosse Club.

Men's Volleyball
Involving students through out the university, RU Men’s Volleyball strives to improve people’s skills and abilities to the game of volleyball. Becoming a team in Fall Semester 2006 year we already have become very successful and well-known across the state of Virginia at other Colleges and Universities. We compete in a very competitive conference having teams ranked in the top 25 each year, and we soon hope to be there as well. We also take great pride in our sportsmanship towards other teams and our companionship to each other. We play year round and have a great time doing it.
