Resources
Here is a list of both on- and off-campus
resources available to all Radford University students.
On-Campus:

Office of Substance Abuse and Sexual
Assault Education: 831-5709:
This office
offers support, counseling,
information, and referrals to students, faculty, staff and parents
of students. We also coordinate and present awareness and prevention
programs to students, faculty and staff. We have an extensive
collection of videos, brochures, and handouts related to substance
abuse and sexual assault.

Student Counseling Services: 831-5226:
The counseling center provides confidential professional counseling
to students. Regular office hours are 8am to noon and 1pm to 5pm,
Monday through Friday. After hours emergency services are available
through campus police, 831-5500.

Dean of Students Office: 831-5321:
This office serves as one place on campus where a student may report
an incident of sexual misconduct or sexual harassment. They are
prepared to listen to the student, suggest possible courses of
action, and interpret university policies. They assist students in
filing judicial charges, facilitate interim actions required to help
protect the victim from further harm, and help with any special
considerations needed to successfully complete academic
requirements.

Residential Life: 831-5375:
Resident Assistants or Resident Directors can provide support and
assistance. If the accuser and accused live in the same building,
alternative living arrangements may be made until adjudication of
the case is complete.

Student Health Center: 831-5111:
The center provides full service for gynecological exams including
testing for sexually transmitted diseases.

University Police: 831-5500:
Trained officers are available 24 hours a day to assist victims.
Information and assistance are available about filing charges on and
off campus.

Human Resources: 831-5421:
This office is responsible for handling claims of sexual harassment
involving RU employees. The Director of Personnel can advise the
student of his/her options, including options outside of the
university's complaint procedures.
Off-Campus:

Alcohol Anonymous and
Narcotics Anonymous: Follow this link to find AA and
NA meetings in Radford, Blacksburg, and Christiansburg.

Women's Resource Center: 639-1123
(Hotline) or 639-9592 (Office):
This center provides fee, confidential
24-hour emotional support, companion services, and crisis
intervention to women, men, and children who are victims of sexual
offenses. They also provide support and guidance to victims of
sexual offenses through the criminal justice systems. Services
include court preparations, escorts, and support while in court.

New River Valley Medical Center,
Emergency Room: 731-2666:
At the emergency room, the victim will receive medial attention and
a PERK test (Physical Evidence Recovery Kit) may be administered.
The New River Valley medical Center offers Forensic Nurses who are
specially trained in evidence recovery.

Radford City Health Department:
831-5774:This office
provides free testing for pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases,
and HIV. They are not equipped to handle emergency situations.

New River Valley Community Services:
961-8400: Variety of
substance abuse services available for individuals and families.

Raft
Crisis Hotline: 961-8400: This is a 24-hour hotline that
provides empathy, information, and referral services. RAFT is a
free service offered by New River Valley Community Services.
