INDEPENDENT STUDY
THEA 498. Independent Study
Credit Hours (3-6).
Prerequisites: Permission of the curriculum committee
The course will provide an opportunity for theatre majors and undergraduates of all disciplines to explore independently specific problems or areas of interest in theatre.
The purpose of the course is to expose the student to an in depth study in an area of theatre not covered by existing theatre courses.
1. Independent research in specific topic.
2. Discussion with faculty advisor at regular meetings concerning problems and information generated through the research data collected.
3. Realization of the concrete objectives established in the original proposal.
4. Post evaluation with the faculty supervisor regarding the success of the proposed objectives.
An informal approach in which the discovery of the principles used in specific areas of theatre will be emphasized.
At the conclusion of the course, students will have experienced a more thorough exploration of the theatre craft or skill.
Graded assignments may include in-class tests, a final examination and the assignment and presentation of projects and class preparation and participation.
