THEA 411. Theatrical Scene Design
Three hours lecture (3).
Prerequisites: THEA 101 and THEA 102 or consent of the instructor.
The course is a study in the fundamentals of scene design for theatrical venues, incorporating Computer Aided Design, including conceptualization of stage floor plans and perspectives resulting in realized color renderings or model design.
The purpose of the course is to expose the student to the basic principles of scenic design with emphasis on their adaptation to practical scenic experiences.

An informal approach in which the discovery of the principles used in scenography will be emphasized.
1. At the conclusion of the course theatre majors will be able to demonstrate the skills used in scenography through actual design experiences.
2. At the conclusion of the course undergraduate students will be able to demonstrate the skills used in scenography through actual design experiences.
Graded assignments may include in-class projects, the assignment and presentation of projects and class preparation and participation.
The instructor will demonstrate drafting techniques using a computer.
