CONTEMPORARY ISSUES IN MANAGEMENT
MGNT 460 Contemporary Issues in Management
Three hour seminar(3).
Prerequisites: Senior standing and MGNT 322, or permission of the instructor.
The course will discuss contemporary issues organizations face and emphasizes the professional conduct of business in a dynamic environment. Special topics may include business ethics, social responsibility, public affairs, competitiveness, community relations, labor relations, issues management or environmental management.
Description of the course is dependant upon the topics selected by the instructor.
Students will actively contribute to the course by participating in course discussions, and preparing formal written and oral presentations which demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the select topic(s).
The student will be expected to:
1. Gain knowledge and insight to the semester’s selected contemporary
issue(s).
2. Comprehend the dynamics of the selected topic and the potential impact managers
and organizations today.
3. Continue to gain and refine researching, writing and critical thinking skills.
Assessment measures appropriate to the design of the course will be used. Case analysis, research projects and exams are strongly suggested.
This course may fulfill one of the four electives required for the management major.
