A. Art
ART.01 Course Deletion &
ART.02 Program Revision
1. To delete ART 100, but replace with ART 101. Also to add ART 102 to core requirements. Note* change the core requirements for Art History and Museum Studies from 15 credit hours to 12 credit hours. Mistake in course outline. Understanding of implementation, Spring 2004.
2. Proposals were supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.
B. Chemistry & Physics
CHEM/PHYS.01 Course Prerequisite Change
1. Add PHYS 111 or PHYS 221 as prerequisites for POSC 301 Meteorology.
2. Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.
CHEM/PHYS.02 Course Credit Hour Change
1. To change PHYS 422 from a 4 credit hour course to a 3 credit hour course because of impracticality. Does not affect requirements for major and/or required credits. Understanding of implementation, Spring 2004.
2. Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.
CHEM/PHYS.03 Program Revision
1. To change the Physics minor from 15 credit hours to 17 credits hours. Brings the program up to most minor standards and will also require students to take more classes for a better level of understanding.

CHEM/PHYS.04 Minor Change to Course &
CHEM/PHYS.05 Course Title Change
1. To make minor changes to course of PHSC 448H Honors Thesis (.04). Proposal .05 was to co-list PHSC 448H with PHYS changing the course identifier in the catalog to PHSC (PHYS) 488H. Allows students to undertake thesis projects in either concentration and will help better identify the content for graduate school applicants. Understanding of implementation, Spring 2004.

C. Foreign Language & Literature
FORL.01 Course Deletion
1. Remove GRMN 401 from curriculum due to offerings of other upper level GRMN courses.
2. Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.
FORL.02 Minor Change to Course &
FORL.03 Minor Change to Course
1. To enable students to take GRMN 300 & 303 twice for credit, granted that the coursework is different. Discussion about how to make Registrars Office able to differentiate between sections, decided the inclusion of an (A) or (B) in the title depending on the cycle of content offering would be sufficient.

D. Political Science
POSC.01 Change to Catalog Description/Course Syllabi Change
1. Tabled due to program representatives not being available to answer questions.
E. Psychology
PSYC.01 New Course
1. Add PSYC 415 Evolutionary Psychology.
2. Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.
PSYC.02 Change to Catalog Description/Course Syllabi Change
1. Alter course description/syllabi for PSYC 320 Introduction to Cognitive Psychology to represent current course content.
2. Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.
PSYC.03 Change to Catalog Description/Course Syllabi Change
1. Alter course description/syllabi for PSYC 420 Research in Cognitive Psychology to represent current course content. Note: make sure credit hour worth is noted in the revised syllabus was missing.
2. Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.
F. Accounting, Finance, and Business Law
ACTG/FINC.01 Catalog Course Description Change &
ACTG/FINC.02 Catalog Course Description Change
1. Change descriptions in catalog to let student be aware that it is the professor, not the employer that determines grade. Grade is based on academic as well as job performance.
2. Proposals were supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.
G. Management and Marketing
MGMT/MKTG.01 Catalog Course Description Change & MGMT/MKTG.02 Catalog Course Description Change
1. Change descriptions in catalog to let student be aware that it is the professor, not the employer that determines grade. Grade is based on academic as well as job performance.

H. Early Childhood Education
EDEC.01, EDEC.02 & EDEC.03 Course Prerequisite Change/Other Catalog Revision/Course Prefix Change/Course Content Change/Course Syllabi Change
1. Change prefix of HUMD 321, 322 and 323 to EDEC 321, 322 and 323. Revise prerequisites & course content and reflect them in both the catalog description and syllabi. Note: Catalog descriptions needs to include statement regarding students ability to re-take the course for a better grade, but cannot receive credit for both classes under different prefix.
2. Proposals were supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.
EDEC.04 Course Prerequisite Change/Course Syllabi Change
1. Change prefix of HUMD 416 to EDEC 416 and also co-list as EDEC 516. Note: Department will need to supply 2 syllabi, one for undergraduate and one for graduate.
2. Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.
EDEC.05 Course Prerequisite Change/Change to Catalog Description/Course Title Change/Course Syllabi Change
1. Modify prerequisite, catalog description, course title, and course syllabi for EDEC 425 and also co-list it as EDEC 525. Note: Department will need to supply 2 syllabi, one for undergraduate and one for graduate.
2. Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.
EDEC.06 Course Prerequisite Change/Change to Catalog Description/Course Title Change/Course Credit Hour Change/Course Syllabi Change
1. EDEC 430 currently covers both Early Childhood Education and Early Childhood Special Education to some degree. Department would like to separate the early childhood education component from special education and create two courses with their own are of concentration. Both courses would be three hours and will provide students with a better opportunity to gain experience in facilitating the learning and development of young children specific to their needs. Part of the restructuring and allows for the 5th Year Licensure Program.
2. Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.
III. Next committee meeting will be October 31, 2003 at 12 noon in the Business Conference Room in Martin Hall. We will review the remainder of the Educational Studies proposals as well as additional proposals.
