II.                 New Proposals for Committee to review

 

A.     Political Science

POSC.01 – Change to Catalog Description/Course Syllabi Change

1.      Extracting components from POSC 337: United States and Virginia Government to make class more specific.  Extracted components will be beneficial for new course proposal.

2.      Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.

POSC.02 – New Course

1.      Taking extracted components from POSC 337, and creating new course POSC 336: Global Citizenship.  Helps to meet Virginia SOL guidelines.

2.      Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.

 

B.     Criminal Justice

CRJU.01 – Change to Catalog Description/Course Credit Hour Change

1.      Change catalog description and credit hour for CRJU 483: Internship.

2.      Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.

CRJU.02 – New Course

1.      Create course CRJU 483: Criminal Justice Experiential Learning

2.      Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.

 

C.     Management and Marketing

MGMT/MKTG.03 – Course Prerequisite Change/Course Number Change

1.      Change details for MGMT 327: Operations Management to better reflect course curriculum.

2.      Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.

MGMT/MKTG.04 – Change Prerequisite Number

1.      Change the prerequisite of MGNT 428: Business Policy and Strategy (Assuming approval of MGMT/MKTG.03)

2.      Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.

MGMT/MKTG.05 – Course Prerequisite Change

1.      Change Prerequisite for MGNT 452: Business Consulting, removal of MGNT 451 from prerequisite list because course has been removed from catalog and is no longer offered.

2.      Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.

MGMT.MKTG.06 – .10 were reviewed together because all were minor catalog revisions. Motion was approved.

1.      MGMT/MKTG.06 – editorial change in some wording in the  Management Major; MGMT/MKTG.07 – Change title of Management Minor; MGMT/MKTG.08 – editorial change in some wording in the Management Minor; MGMT/MKTG.09 – editorial change in some wording in the Marketing Minor; MGMT.MKTG.10 – editorial change in some wording for the Marketing Minor

2.      Proposals were supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.

 

Special Note:    The Committee also acknowledged the request to shelf MGNT 478 – Quality and Productivity Management.

 

D.    Philosophy and Religious Studies

PHIL/RELN.01 – Course Deletion/Program Revision

1.      Delete PHIL 415: Philosophical Systems because topics can/will be covered in PHIL 421: Topics in Philosophy, which is an existing course.  Also, program revision included because of deletion.

2.      Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.

PHIL/RELN.02 – Course Prerequisite Change/Change to Catalog Description

1.      Alter information concerning PHIL 421 because of new information that will be added to the course due to deletion of PHIL 415.

2.      Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.

PHIL/RELN.03 – Program Revision

1.      Revision of Religious Studies concentration

2.      Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.

PHIL/RELN.04 – Program Revision

1.      Revision of Philosophy concentration.

2.      Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.

 

E.     Sociology and Anthropology

SOCY/ANTH.01 – Change to Catalog Description/Course Number Change

1.      Change information for SOCY 226: Men and Women in Society to SOCY 326 – Men and Women in Society.

2.      Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.

SOCY/ANTH.02 – Change to Catalog Description

1.      Change catalog description of SOCY 250: Social Inequality.

2.      Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.

SOCY/ANTH.03 – Course Title Change

1.      Change SOCY 331: Minority Groups to SOCY 331: Race and Ethnic Relations.

2.      Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.

SOCY/ANTH.04 – Change to Catalog Description/Course Title Change

1.      Change information for SOCY 430 – Twentieth-Century Social Movements and Revolutions. 

2.      Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.

SOCY/ANTH.05 – New Course

1.      New Course SOCY 120: Sociological Analysis.  Will be base course for upper level courses.

2.      Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.

SOCY/ANTH.06 – Course Prerequisite Change

1.      Change Prerequisite for SOCY 430: Classical Sociological Theory to include new course SOCY 120.

2.      Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.

SOCY/ANTH.07 – Course Prerequisite Change

1.      Change prerequisite for SOCY 380: Introduction to Social Research Methods to include new course SOCY 120.

2.      Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.

SOCY/ANTH.08 – Course Deletion(s)

1.      Delete course SOCY 317, 333, 436, 481, and 492.

2.      Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.

SOCY/ANTH.09 – New Course

1.      SOCY 265: Society and the Individual, course will include information from deleted courses.

2.      Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.

SOCY/ANTH.10 – New Course

1.      SOCY 440: Global Inequalities, course will include information from the deleted courses.

2.      Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.

SOCY/ANTH.11/.12/.13 – Program Revisions

1.      Revision of B.S. requirements for Sociology/Anthropology Department, Revision of Sociology Major, and Revision of Sociology Minor to reflect changes.

2.      Proposals were supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.
