I. Minutes from December 5th were approved.
II. Old Business
A. Proposal #034-GEOG.19 this involved a title change for GEOG 410 from GIS II to Advanced GIS. Proposal was missing for the December 5th meeting but was understood to be approved pending receipt of the paperwork. The paperwork has since arrived and was forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.
III. New Proposals for Committee to review
A. Art
ART.03 Course Number Change
1. To change the course number of ART 320 to ART 220 because the course is an introductory level course. Effective date changed to Fall 2004.
2. Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.
ART.04 Course Prerequisite Change
1. Remove ART 310 as a prerequisite for ART 360.
2. Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.
ART.05 Course Deletion
1. Delete ART 310 - course content already covered in ART 360.
2. Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.
ART.06 New Course
1. Create ART 311 Digital Photography.
2. Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.
ART.07 New Course
1. Add ART 414/614 - course content offered the last 3 years under special topics and now needs to be recognized as a standard offering. Was originally suggested as ART 413 but number had been used previously and was unavailable for use. ART 414 was the next course number available for use.
2. Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.
ART.08 New Course
1. Add ART 415/615 - course content offered the last 3 years under special topics and now needs to be recognized as a standard offering. Was originally suggested as ART 414 but that number was utilized in the previous proposal.
2. Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.
ART.09 New Course
1. To add ART 429 as a permanent course due to having been offered 3 years and keeping continual enrollment.
2. Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.
ART.10 Course Deletion
1. To delete ART 212 due to addition of ART 101, which covers similar material. ART 101 will also be a core requirement for all Visual Art Degree programs.
2. Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.
ART.11 Course Deletion
1. To delete ART 213 due to addition of ART 102, which covers similar material. Art 02 will also be a core requirement for all Visual Art Degree programs.

1. To create ART 442 Media, Materials, and Techniques for the Classroom. Conditional support pending receipt of Professional Education Committee signatures.

1. To change the course prerequisite and catalog description for ENGL 306.

ENGL.05 Course Prerequisite Change
1. Change prerequisite for ENGL 407 from Completion of English general education requirements, junior or senior standing, and ENGL 306 to include the previous statement and ENGL 403.

1. To change the catalog description for ENGL 470 The Author in Context and ENGL 495 English Internship.

MSTD.01 Program Revision
1. Revise the BS requirement for Media Studies majors - have students take 6 to 8 credit hours from social/natural sciences in order to develop a specialty area.
2. Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval
MSTD.02 Program Revision
1. To remove the Interdisciplinary Concentration option from Media Studies - department felt students were only using the concentration to avoid completing a true Interdisciplinary concentration.
2. Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.
MSTD.03 Program Revision
1. Delete MSTD 105 from the Media Studies Minor requirement and replace it with MSTD 400. Students will still have the flexibility to take MSTD 105 as an elective in the minor.
2. Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.
D. Music
MUSC. 06 Program Change
1. Three business courses in the Music Business concentration were discontinued (ACTG 203, FINC 231 & MGNT 221), which prompted the need to identify three different (replacements) courses - ACTG 211, FINC 331 and MGNT 322.
2. Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.
MUSC.07 Catalog Change
1. Editorial changes in the descriptions of the Applied Music Performance level system in the catalog.
2. Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.
MUSC.08 Program Revision
1. Delete MUSC 216:217 from the BA/BS requirement for Music majors.
2. Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.
MUSC.09 Program Revision
1. Changes to Music minor requirements Drop MUSC 496 and replace with a music elective; drop MUSC 321; 322 from Music Performance requirements.
2. Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.
E. Political Science
POSC.03 Course Deletion(s)
1. Delete POSC 325 Political Parties and POSC 426 Public Opinion and Voting for creation of a new course.

POSC.04 New Course
1. New course POSC 326 American Political Parties, to replace deletion of POSC 325 and POSC 426. Conditional approval pending receipt of library resources signature sheet.

POSC.05 Course Deletion(s)
1. Delete POSC 472 Founding Principles of American Politics and POSC 473 Development of American Political Thought for creation of a new course.

1. To create POSC 474 American Political Thought to replace the deletion of POSC 472 and 473. Course number originally proposed as POSC 470 but number had been used previously. Conditional approval pending receipt of library resources signature sheet and clarification of new course number.

F. Psychology
PSYC.04 New Course
1. To create PSYC 480 Human Neuropsychology.

1. To create THEA 477 Contemporary Theatre. Editorial change in prerequisite listing to alter statement to say or permission of instructor.

THEA.02 New Course
1. To create THEA 481: Screenwriting. Editorial change in prerequisite listing to alter statement to say or permission of instructor.
2. Proposal was supported and forwarded to Dr. Self for final approval.
THEA.03 New Course
1. To create THEA 226 Voice and Speech for the Performer. Editorial change in prerequisite listing to alter statement to say or permission of instructor.
