Members Present:  H. Terry (Chair), L. Pollard, N. Okie, J. Borling, K. Castleberry, C. White, and Wendy Tatum (G.A.).

Guests:  C. Hines (Office of the Registrar)

I.                    Minutes from the February 5 meeting were approved as distributed.

II.                 Proposals Reviewed

1.      ITEC.45 – Course Prerequisite Change.  Change prerequisite for ITEC 120 from ITEC 110 to ITEC 110 or MATH 151 or MATH 155.

Discussion:  ITEC 120 is a General Education Course and should have been reviewed by the General Education Curriculum Committee prior to our consideration.

Motion:  Proposal supported by the UGCCRC, contingent upon the endorsement of the General Education Committee.

Action:   After receiving approval from the General Education Curriculum Committee, via verbal communication from Dr. Schlueter-Gill, the proposal was forwarded to the Vice President for Academic Affairs for final approval.

2.      ITEC.46 – Course Prerequisite Change.  Change prerequisites for ITEC 352 from ITEC 122 and 224 to ITEC 122 and ITEC 220.  Proposal supported by the UGCCRC and forwarded to the Vice President for Academic Affairs for final approval.

3.      ITEC.47 – Course Prerequisite Change.  Change prerequisite for ITEC 452 from ITEC 451 to ITEC 451 and ITEC 310.  Proposal supported by the UGCCRC and forwarded to the vice President for Academic Affairs for final approval.

4.      ITEC.48 – New Course with Cross-Listing.  ITEC 250: PC Based GIS Applications is being added as a Cross-Listed course with GEOG 250.  The course already exists in the Geography department, but is not currently identified within Information Technology.  The course content remains the same and the instruction will continue to come from geography faculty.  Consequently, the ITEC department submitted the same course syllabus, but changed the course identifier to read both ITEC 250 & GEOG 250.

Discussion: While the proposal was supported by all the required individuals from ITEC, there was some question about whether or not the College Curriculum Committee and the Dean of Arts and Sciences were involved in the approval of the proposal.

Motion:  Proposal supported by the UGCCRC, contingent upon the endorsement of Dr. Ivan Liss, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.

Action:  After receiving approval from Dr. Liss, the proposal was forwarded to the Vice President for Academic Affairs for final approval.

III.               Other Business

In consideration of the early morning meeting time and the teaching responsibilities of the faculty members, it was agreed that the committee wouldn’t meet again until there were enough proposals to warrant a full meeting (minimum of 10 proposals).
