Current Students in the Lab

The motor behavior laboratory was developed in 1996.  It serves to stimulate scholarly pursuits as well as provide an outlet for students and faculty to learn from each other.

Currently, we are investigating several areas, including the conditions of practice (e.g. practice repetitions, demonstrations, imagery practice, instructor feedback), the use of videotape feedback/technology for skill learning, visual training for sport performance (e.g. the effects of fatigue on vision), bilateral skill development, and the use proprioceptive feedback to improve learning and performance.   If interested in specific studies or projects, see either the lab projects link or Dr. Darden's professional contributions.

Dr. Darden is also busy pursuing other worthwhile projects, such as the promotion of quality youth sport programs and the education of sport coaches.  He has been been active in organizations and groups whose mission is quality sport experiences for youth. For more detail on these projects, see the "professional activities" section below or contact the National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE).  Within Virginia’s Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (VAHPERD), he currently serves as the editor for THE VIRGINIA JOURNAL and as a vice-president.  Dr. Darden currently coordinates the graduate program in Radford University’s Department of Physical and Health Education. Graduate students who are interested in any of our programs should contact him or the Graduate College.
