"Fast-Track" Master's in Criminal Justice at Roanoke Higher Education Center

Radford University’s Department of Criminal Justice is pleased to announce the inception of its “fast track” graduate program leading to a Masters’ of Science in Criminal Justice.  This program is specifically designed to meet the needs of working criminal justice professionals throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia, with all classes held on the weekends.

This program will hold classes at Radford University’s state of the art classrooms in the Roanoke Higher Education Center in downtown Roanoke.  Using a cohort-style of instruction (a group of students who will start and finish the program together), the program will officially start with a limited enrollment (20 students per cohort) for the Spring semester in January, 2006.  Each class will meet one weekend per month, and there will be two classes offered each semester.  This schedule will allow a student to complete the Master’s degree in twenty-four months with full-time attendance.

Using a week-end meeting format, students will attend class on Friday evening from 6:30 PM until 9:30 PM and on Saturday from 8:00 AM until 3:00 PM.  Classes will be augmented with web-based instructional materials and students will have reading and writing assignments to complete between class meetings.  Faculty will be available between classes for consultation and assistance via both the web-based technology and email.  Each class will meet in Roanoke a total of five times per semester at the Roanoke Higher Education Center.

For further information, you may email Dr. Mary Atwell, the Criminal Justice Graduate Coordinator, at matwell@radford.edu .
